Job summary
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for band 7 Ward manager at Barts Health NHS Trust in the Division of Specialist Medicine.
Specialist Medicine Ward (13D) is a busy ward within the specialist medicine division specialising in acute medicine, haematology, endocrinology, and metabolic medicine.
There is a multidisciplinary approach to care on our ward, where you would be expected to be able to problem solve independently and work collaboratively as part of a wider team.
You should possess excellent communication skills and be committed to delivering safe and compassionate care. We welcome new ideas and strive to constantly improve our delivery of care to patients.
Working closely with the ward nursing team the post holder is responsible for leading the ward to deliver a consistently high standard of care to meet patient needs and Unit objectives whilst working closely with the Medical teams and Senior Nurse/Matron. The post holder will demonstrate clinical expertise within medicine in the assessment, planning, and delivery of care using a holistic approach. The post holder must possess fundamental management and facilitation skills to co-ordinate and supervise the activity of Unit staff, promote multi-disciplinary working, and foster a supportive, learning environment.
Main duties of the job
To lead by example as an expect practitioner providing organisational and leadership to the multidisciplinary team. To deputise for the senior nurse when necessary.
To ensure continuity and high standards of care including sharing ideas, information and feedback in order to empower patients and members of the interdisciplinary team.
To take proactive role in producing accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
