Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Respiratory Medicine department at St. Bartholomew's Hospital on a full time basis. We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled Respiratory Physiologist. Ideally with experience of spirometry and other respiratory diagnostic testing such as capillary blood gas (CBG) testing. The role will provide excellent healthcare assistant support and to enable the delivery of a quality, patient focused service. Staff with a good healthcare assistant grounding will be supported with in house training for CBG & spirometry and further development.
Along with the basic tests of lung function, such as spirometry and CBG's, other tests you will perform include skin tests and overnight oximetry to screen for sleep-disordered breathing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Respiratory Medicine department at St. Bartholomew's Hospital on a Full time basis. We are seeking to recruit a Respiratory Physiologist to join our expanding team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist to become part of an innovative service at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder will be based at St Bartholomew's and will be required to do some work at the satellite laboratory at the Royal London Hospital and Mile End Hospital. We have a fully functioning, modern lung function laboratory providing all the usual tests including spirometry, transfer factor, lung volumes (body box), ear-lobe blood gases and cardio-pulmonary exercise tests. For our specialist asthma and allergy service, we perform histamine challenges and skin prick testing lung clearance index (LCI) testing and Impulse Oscilometry (IOS). For our tertiary Sleep and Ventilation patients, we perform inpatient and outpatient sleep studies including multi-channel polygraphy and overnight oximetry. We also have the ability to do Fitness to Fly tests and shunt testing. We hope to develop the Sleep service to provide nocturnal capnography and full polysomnography in the future.
The post holder must hold a BSc degree in Clinical Physiologist or equivalent, training experience with the ARTP is also desirable.
