Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to gain skills within the world of commissioning at Barts Health. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated pharmacy technician to join our friendly team. The role will equip you with new skills and knowledge in processes around the introduction of new drugs and the commissioning of high-cost drugs.
You will work closely with the team to support various commissioning processes including the management of high-cost drug reports, individual funding request applications, and support with the submission and subsequent commissioner challenges of these.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as you will be liaising with multiple stakeholders, both external and internal, have good IT skills, exceptional time management and an ability to work well under pressure. You should be a team player, able to perform effectively within Pharmacy and wider healthcare settings and be flexible and open to change, as the commissioning landscape evolves.
Flexible working patterns as 0.82 WTE over 5 days will be considered for this permanent role.

Main duties of the job
This post will play a key role in supporting the Clinical Commissioning Team to ensure the governance, financial and commissioning arrangements for high-cost drugs are fully implemented.
This will include supporting the High-Cost Drug data monthly submissions process, processing commissioner challenges and the Individual Funding Request forms (IFRs), delivery of the Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) targets, creating financial reports, answering, and processing commissioner queries, and working with the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist in supporting the work for the Immunoglobulin (Ig) work stream.
Other support areas will include:
- Support for the Formulary and Pathways stream of work on an as required basis
