Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified or existing Band 5 physiotherapist to join our site-based Band 5 Rotation scheme at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. The Royal London Hospital therapies team delivers care to patients across a range of diverse background and specialities.

The current rotation scheme includes:

  • Specialist Medicine (includes Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and Infectious diseases)
  • Acute Stroke Services (includes HASU/ASU)
  • Adult Intensive Care (44 bedded major trauma and general ICU)
  • Neurotrauma (includes Major trauma, Neurosurgery, Neurology and Ortho-Plastics)
  • General Surgery including exposure to the Surgical Monitored Unit
  • Musculoskeletal Outpatients (RLH Sports Therapy team and Mile End Hospital Community health referrals

The ideal candidate will be passionate, enthusiastic, display a willingness to learn, and be a team player joining our diverse therapy team. The therapy team has a strong ethos for clinical and team development, innovative educational programmes, research and Quality improvement/audit opportunities. We pride ourselves on being a supportive and engaging department to develop and grow our therapists holistically into autonomous practitioners.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in a diverse multicultural environment and refine and develop experience across specialist physiotherapy areas and rotations in our RLH site six monthly rotation.
  • To deliver specialised physiotherapeutic intervention to patients using highly developed skills in assessment and treatment of patients. This includes the delivery of exercise programmes and giving advice, information and emotional support to patients and carers in a wide variety of settings.
  • To participate in the rotation scheme, which involves working across the Royal London Hospital.
  • To contribute to the development of evidence based practice and clinical effectiveness during each rotation.
  • To participate in the emergency and on call rota across the Royal London Hospital site
