Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional and experienced General Manager to join our team at the Royal London Hospital. This post sits within one of the largest and most complex directorates in one of the largest and most complex Trusts in the country; this is both a challenging and exciting place to work. While we face the same financial and performance pressures as all NHS Trusts, we are undertaking significant projects to improve healthcare delivery through the We Improve programme.
You will be operationally responsible for Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Spinal Surgery, as well as providing directorate-wide leadership on specific issues. You will therefore have well-honed performance management skills coupled with an understanding and appreciation of complex clinical pathways. You will also head up a range of service development initiatives directly as well as working with and through your teams, colleagues and peers to deliver directorate wide improvement.
You will be intellectually flexible, highly analytical and confident to challenge the status quo while building excellent working relationships that quickly enable you to become a trusted and credible leader across all staff groups.
This is an excellent opportunity in a high profile organisation providing stretch, development and challenge for the successful candidate. The roles are well supported by both the Divisional Director of Operations and Divisional Director as well as the wider management team.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for operational management for orthopaedics, plastic surgery and spinal surgery services delivered at the Royal London Hospital
- Co-ordinate the operational delivery of all responsible services and ensure the safe and effective use of all resources. Specifically to take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national
- In partnership with the Clinical Director and Senior Nurses, take operational management responsibility - with the specialty Lead Clinicians, Operational Managers and Heads of Department within the Service Groups - for the delivery of Cost Improvement Program.
- Provide senior leadership and overall general management for Barts Health NHS Trust, working in close collaboration with the Divisional Directors and Directors. To work with the Clinical Directors and Heads of Department to ensure the development of staff and services, in conjunction with a wide range of partner
- Support the clinical and managerial leadership, delivering a range of outcomes, ensuring that fundamental and underlying activities to organizational success are
- Drive innovation, modernization and high levels of staff and patient satisfaction for the Service
- Act as an ambassador for the Trust and as a Senior Manager of the Trust working in an ethnically and culturally diverse area; promote the Trust's Equality and Diversity policy and
