Job summary
We have exciting opportunities within the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre to join the Endoscopy Scheduling team. These are patient facing roles and would entail contacting patients to arrange appointments, talking patients through the details of their procedures, scheduling appointments on the system and covering reception across a 7-day service. These roles are pivotal to the smooth running of the Endoscopy department as well promoting patient confidence in our professionalism and their care.
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. You will also need to be flexible, have an appreciation of the confidential nature of the work and be able to manage a workload to meet pre-determined targets.
Computer literacy would be essential as you will be expected to input and extract information from the Patient Administrative System, Endoscopy Information System and other computing systems.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide a service to the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre. An up-to-date knowledge of all clinics will be needed to enable the post holder to make, amend, and cancel appointments and handle straightforward queries in all specialties as this will become a multi-skilled role; the post holder will need a working knowledge of all clinic protocols in addition to any specific standards for each clinic/specialty. The role will range from the registration of new patients, handling GP and patient queries for the service and making appointments using systems such as full and partially booked appointments. Main duties will be answering telephone calls from patients or GP's wishing to make or change appointments or making general enquiries as well as covering the reception desk.
