CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN IN DIABETES AND ENDOCRINOLOGY (1 POST)

We are seeking to appoint a substantive consultant physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology (D&E) at Whipps Cross Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder will work as part of a team of five Diabetes and Endocrine consultants to support provision of inpatient and outpatient care for patients with general medical, diabetes and endocrine problems. The post holder will also be supporting the general medicine on call roster. Full registration with the GMC is essential.
The post holder will support provision of inpatient care for patients with metabolic and general medical problems, and outpatient care for patients with diabetes or endocrine presentations. Furthermore, the appointee will be expected to contribute to and lead to development and expanding diabetes and endocrine care within the hospital and the community. The post holder will actively contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff. The post holder will be expected to partake in the general medical on call rota.

Main duties of the job
Whipps Cross Hospital is delighted to be able to offer a Consultant post in Diabetes and Endocrinology. The appointee will work alongside 5 established Diabetes and Endocrine consultants at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Specifically, the post holder will support provision of inpatient care for patients with diabetes, endocrine and general medical problems, and also outpatient care for patients with diabetes and endocrine presentations. There is a weekly radiology/clinical meeting, a weekly journal club, and a monthly governance meeting, which the new post holder will be expected to attend. The diabetes and endocrine consultants are also part of the general medical rota. This post is a full time 10 PA post. As part of the medical Division, we are committed to working towards a 7-day working pattern and the post-holder will be expected to commit to this. As part of the diabetes network, the Trust is moving towards inclusion of 2-way cross-site working plans within all new job plans.
You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Register, or within 3 months of obtaining CCST or CESR upon taking up the post. Please note that at the time of interview, candidates can be within 6 months of obtaining CCST or CESR.
