Job summary
The advertised post is for a fixed term Breast Radiologist based at St Bartholomew's Hospital. All breast imaging services at St Bartholomew's hospital are located in the West Wing, a state-of-the-art breast unit funded by the Lord Mayor of London's Appeal which opened in 2005. This unit offers unparalleled diagnostic services and is amongst the best-equipped in the UK. Barts Health Breast Network Service encompasses 3 sites: St Bartholomew's Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital, and Newham University General Hospital. The successful candidate may be required to travel to these sites to provide cover for leave on an ad hoc basis.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team to help deliver the service and to support an active training programme. An interest in teaching and training is welcomed to help establish a more extensive training and teaching portfolio. Continuing interest and previous experience in breast imaging research is desirable in the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in breast imaging including diagnostic mammography, ultrasound examinations, ultrasound guided biopsies, stereotactic and vacuum biopsies, FNAs and wire localisations under ultrasound and mammographic guidance. Candidates should also have experience in reporting breast MRIs, and previous contrast mammography experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to present at breast MDT meetings on a rotational basis. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Lead Breast Consultant, Imaging Clinical Director and Breast Imaging Manager. These activity levels will be aligned to the capacity and demand of the department.

The successful candidate will be joining 7 other radiologists at St Bartholomews, and a wider BartsHealth team of 12 radiologists who together provide the symptomatic breast services.6. The job plan can include general radiology sessions. The breast sessions will typically comprise one-stop symptomatic clinics, breast interventional work and screening sessions. There is a weekly multidisciplinary meeting at 08:30 every Wednesday morning, which the successful appointee would be expected to attend, with a further second weekly MDM planned to start imminently.7. To support other imaging developments within the Trust8. To provide evidence-based care for all patients.9. To have adhered to at all times the appropriate clinical and quality standards10.
