Job summary

The advertised post is for a substantive consultant chest radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust which will be one of 6 new substantive radiology posts to support the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) for northeast London which is a CDC exemplar supporting Research, Education and Training for the radiographic Team.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of 69 radiologists based at the Royal London and St Bartholomew's Hospitals who support the existing service and the active training programme. The post will be based at Mile End Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and or St Bartholomew's Hospital depending on need and subspecialty interest.

Main duties of the job

These posts are needed to support the installation of new MRI and CT scanners at Mile end hospital as a result of the development of the new CDC serving northeast London (NEL).

The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCST. They should have a specialist interest in chest radiology. They will be required to obtain ILS training (Intermediate Life Support ) and spend some of their reporting time at Mile End hospital depending on need.

(most likely one day per week).

Helping in development and organisation of the services in his / her charge in line with the Trusts business plans. Liaison and communication with the Divisional Manager and Clinical Director for Imaging at Barts Health NHS Trust will be expected.

Development of their own interests and specialties within the Imaging service, including active participation in audit programs.

Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.

To help with the reporting of cross-sectional images performed on the new CT scanners at the CDC
