Community Engagement Officer HEAL (Health Equality Action Leadership) Project
Band 6 0.4 (two days a week) 2 year fixed term
An exciting opportunity to join the community engagement team within Barts Health has been developed. We are looking to appoint a Community Engagement Officer who will be able to able to gain insight and involvement of local communities and patients across three NE London boroughs Tower Hamlets, Newham and Waltham Forest, the post will help to engage the communities on issues around health and tackling health inequalities and ensuring the voice of the communities is part of Barts future co-design and service improvement work.
The post has been funded by Barts Charity and will be managed by Barts Health in partnership with the East London Citizens.
The pandemic has illustrated the health inequalities experienced by communities in NE London and this post will help to ensure that the community is engaged and involved in co-designing healthcare services and highlighting areas of concern to system partners on the provision of healthcare.
Main duties of the job
The post will support and provide insight to a range of transformational community and patient engagement and participation programmes enabling integration within our wider transformation activity and recovery work. Working with the engagement and development team the successful candidate would bring experience of working within a community engagement \ community organising and understanding of the needs of communities and patinets, a will to tackle health inequalities and bring about positive change alongside skills of negotiation and an understanding of the healthcare system
Key to our clinical transformation at Barts Health is the co-production of programmes that integrate the public and patient voice as part of our inclusion agenda and people participation ambitions at Barts Health and as part of a wider integrated care system.
