Job summary

We are looking for two enthusiastic members to join our dynamic team providing acute general internal medicine services to the people of Newham. This full-time fixed term IMT 1-2 (SHO) equivalent post will be available from August 2023 (earlier start date could be considered) for 12 months in the first instance.

This is an exciting opportunity within our Acute Ambulatory Care department at Newham University Hospital, a 52 bedded unit which will offer care for the initial 48 hours of admission. The unit will include facility for 8 monitored beds.

The successful applicant will contribute to the acute medical care for the hospital which serves London Borough of Newham with a catchment population of 260,000. They will generally be based on the ward delivering the daily care of medical inpatients on the unit, with the support of the Speciality consultant, Specialist Registrar and Foundation trainees. They will also be expected to contribute to the hospital on call rota where they will be responsible for the clerking, assessment and management of patients referred to Acute Medicine. The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work within ambulatory care working within a supported clinic environment. If desired, there is an opportunity to attend Speciality clinics.

The successful applicants will be affiliated with the Acute Ambulatory Care department offering inpatient medical care on a ward based system

The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all patients attending the hospital as well as providing being linked through Barts Trust to all specialties.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practise
