Job summary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Consultant in Orthodontics (6 PAs) based at Barts NHS Health Trust, Royal London Hospital Site.
The position is available to start from the 4th September 2023. You must be on the General Dental Council specialist register in Orthodontics and have successfully completed the ISFE in Orthodontics. Please ensure you read the full job specification.
Main duties of the job

General Duties
- To be an active member of the orthodontic department and help deliver the tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching
- Continuing responsibility for providing a specialist service for patients referred to the department in line with Trust and DoH targets, including performing all administrative duties associated with patient care
- Leadership, development and organisation of the services in line with the Trust's business plans. Liaison and communication with the Clinical Director, the Lead Clinician and the General Manager
- Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management and training of junior staff including Specialty Registrars and Dental Core Trainee
- Contribute to the training of postgraduates and undergraduates
- Approval and monitoring of rotas and appointments
Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide a Consultant-led service in the diagnosis and treatment planning for patients referred to the Department of Orthodontics requiring complex and advanced care
- Treatment of patients that require specialist care within the hospital environment. These will include orthognathic, hypodontia and cleft care. The duties are not treatment specific and include all those expected of an Orthodontic Consultant
- To provide training of undergraduate and postgraduate student
- To administer patient flow
