Job summary

The Radiotherapy service is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital, a leading, internationally renowned teaching hospital situated within the City of London. The department offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic organisation using and developing the latest techniques and technologies.

We are looking to recruit an adaptable, experienced & motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team and operate as a team leader in all areas of the department.

Treatment equipment comprises five Varian TrueBeam linacs, CyberKnife, XStrahl orthovoltage unit & Gammamed HDR on the ARIA network complete the equipment portfolio. Pre-treatment imaging is provided with a Siemens Somatom Confidence CT & planning with Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. Techniques include virtual simulation & delivery of simple & complex conformal treatments. IMRT, IGRT, TBI, DIBH, ART & gynaecological brachytherapy are currently offered as routine as well as multi-platform stereotactic radiosurgery and SABR. Further expansion of both pre-treatment & treatment delivery areas of the department is planned.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in the department, ensuring that strong links are maintained between all sections & that knowledge and expertise is shared. The candidate will act as a role model to junior staff & students and be responsible for the daily operation of their section.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Pre-treatment and Treatment Operational Managers to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of care.

The post holder will be expected to play a key role in the operational and clinical leadership of the service within the Radiotherapy Department at the Barts Cancer Centre. They would be expected to ensure the provision of a high quality and patient-focussed service and to provide support to radiographers at all levels, assistants and students.

The post holder will be one of the team of Radiographers in the department providing leadership for staff and quality care for patients within the Barts Cancer Centre

  • BSc (hons) in Therapeutic Radiography
  • HCPC registration in Therapeutic Radiography
  • Evidence of Post graduate education
  • Recent clinical updates

Desirable

  • MSc module in Radiotherapy Breast Planning

Experience

  • Experience of working in a Radiotherapy department on the treatment units and pre-treatment at B6 level or above level
  • Experience of CT imaging and Virtual Simulation for radiotherapy
  • Team management experience
  • Participation in radiotherapy project or development work
