An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speciality Doctor in HIV to join the HIV clinical team at Barts Health NHS Trust, to start immediately. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual wishing to further their clinical and research experience in HIV.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the HIV/GUM consultant and research teams within the Barts Health NHS Trust.
The successful candidate must; have a medical degree and preferably relevant clinical research experience, be a good communicator and have exceptional organisation skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously is essential.
This is a networked post, the post holder will therefore be expected to travel to the following hospital sites within Barts Health NHS Trust; Royal London Hospital, Newham University Hospital and Sir Ludwig Gutttman Centre, Stratford.
Main duties of the job
The HIV specialty doctor will have a cohort of patients living with HIV across different centres at Barts NHS Trust. In conjunction with the wider MDT, they will monitor and treat a wide variety of patients living with HIV. This includes regular monitoring and prescribing the most effective antiretroviral treatment. Compelx cases will be discussed in the weekly MDT and advice given on management. There is also a role for seeing pateints who are newly diagnosed and starting treatment, if appropriate. Training will be given but applicants should have a solid understanding of monitoring and treating patients living with HIV.

- To provide HIV clinical care to men and women attending HIV services at Barts Health. This may also involve managing sexual health infections, and/or treatment, and/or contraception.
- To provide evidence-based care
- To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out within the CAG & Trust guidelines
- To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues within the department, other clinical specialities within the Trust particularly gynaecology, General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies
