We are looking to appoint a substantive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand and upper limb surgery based at The Royal London Hospital. You will be joining a Barts wide Orthopaedic department with a large body of consultant surgeons.

Main duties of the job

The post is a full-time Consultant post in Orthopaedics. The out-of-hours on-call commitment will be based at the Royal London Hospital with elective sessions carried out at the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre, located next to Newham University Hospital. Trauma theatre sessions will be undertaken at both the Royal London and Whipps Cross University Hospitals, with regular clinics likely to be undertaken at two of the three sites. There is emergency cover for post operative patients on all three sites. The postholder will not be required to attend multiple sites on one given day.

The post holder will be an employee of Barts Health and there may be opportunities or requirements to work at other hospitals in the Barts Health group. The appointee will be required to participate in the out of hours on-call rota. This rota is currently 1 in 20, covering the Royal London Hospital site with a trauma Consultant of the Week 1 in 20.

Applicants should possess full GMC registration, and either be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
