We aim to recruit a dynamic nurse with relevant Emergency Department experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that they provide. You will be expected to deliver high quality, clinical care, lead a team of nurses and HCSWs, promoting and maintaining high standards of nursing care within the current service. You will be actively involved in shaping the future of the Royal London Emergency Department and will be supported in achieving your career goals in relation to developing clinical, management and leadership skills.
You will line manage a team made of junior Sisters, band 5 nurses and band 3 emergency department assistants. You will nurture their development and lead with an example of clinical excellence. The senior sister is expected to co-ordinate a group of 'nurse champions' to lead in an area of care that interest you and in collaboration with an ED consultant manage quality improvement projects.
Our department is also able to offer several exciting secondment prospects including the Physician Response Unit. This opportunity, unique to our department, incorporates a nurse into the pre-hospital MDT response unit .
Main duties of the job
Leads by example as an experienced senior nurse providing organisation and leadership to the multi-professional team. To improve flow within the ED; constant overview of all areas ofED ( Paeds, EmCare, Injuries, CDU). Assist with flow into and out of ED including CDU, amb/ED Care, escalating issues to specialities/ Managers using all areas of the ED and hospital to their optimum with the aim to resolve to improve patient experience. Complete allbreach reasons and validate breaches in real time.
Supervises: Junior qualified staff, Emergency department assistants, and student nurses. Manages: Ward department/environment and the nursing team including emergency department assistants on a daily basis.
