We'relooking for a driven Assistant Therapy Practitioner to support our Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in delivering high qualitycare across our Stroke Pathway(rotating between Acute hospital care and a new Stroke Rehabilitation Unit).

Your day might include:

  • Independently assessing patients

  • Deliveringspecialisedrehabilitation

  • Assessing for and orderingequipment

  • Helping ensure smooth and safe discharges

  • Documenting care and communicating with the Therapy team,patientsand their families

It is expected that the post holder will contribute to seven-day services.

Main duties of the job

This post works across the professions of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The post holder will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, but will autonomously manage their own caseload, providing direct Therapy interventions for identified patient groups.They will be responsible for the entire patient journey from assessment through treatment to discharge. They will work closely with patients, their families and/or carers, Therapy colleagues and the wider MDT, as well as liaising externally with colleagues in social services, Primary care, community services, voluntary organisations and other agencies as required. They will support Band 3 Therapy Assistants working in their clinical area.

  • Education to GCSE/equivalent grade C in 3 subjects including Maths and English

Knowledge and Training

  • Knowledge across the range of Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy practices in acute hospital trust
  • Specific knowledge relating to medical conditions and therapy intervention to treat and discharge patients appropriately
  • Proven relevant experience as an Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant at Band 3
