Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, in the role of Chief Nursing Officer.

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust and The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust have moved to work together in a Group model. As part of this collaboration a Group Chief Nursing Officer role has been created and individual Trust Chief Nurses for each organisation reporting to the Group Chief Nursing Officer.

The postholder will provide motivational and inspirational leadership to Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) across the Trust, provide nursing, midwifery and AHP advice to the Group Board, managers and clinicians in accordance with national policy and guidance, and provide leadership and management of the Quality agenda including a strategic direction and management of the Quality and Patient Experience agenda.

Furthermore, the postholder will work collaboratively with the site Chief Medical Officer to develop a culture which embeds Clinical Quality and Governance and monitors its effectiveness, as well as supporting the Director of Infection Prevention and Control in developing strategies to ensure effective infection prevention and control and prevent avoidable healthcare associated infections.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer to oversee and deliver the Trust's quality and professional strategy priorities, ensuring their progress and effectiveness are monitored at Group Board level.

The postholder will oversee the Trust's Quality and Patient Experience agenda, collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer to produce the Annual Quality Account. They will lead delivery plans for patient and public involvement, quality, and safety, ensuring strong governance over quality, safety, and patient experience.

The postholder will collaborate with senior leadership to drive the Trust's risk management and governance strategies, support workforce and recruitment initiatives, work with finance to achieve efficiencies, and assist in implementing national standards for hospital cleanliness and food quality.

The postholder will support the Trust's management, strategic service development, business planning, and broader health strategy.

The postholder will act as the Trust's representative on professional nursing, midwifery, and AHP matters at various levels, fostering partnerships and integrating best practice.

The postholder will oversee Infection Prevention and Control across the Trust, and hold corporate responsibility for safeguarding adults and children.
