An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Support Workers to join theCritical Care team at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. This role is based within a high-acuity environment, supporting patients with complex needs and working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Post holders will assist with personal care, basic clinical tasks, and help maintain a safe and clean setting, contributing to the smooth running of the Critical Care. The position involves working a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

We welcome applications from individuals who hold a GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. Main duties of the job

  • Welcome and orientate patients, relatives,carersand visitors to Critical Care,demonstratingcare and compassion.

  • Report any observed changes in a patient's physical or psychological condition to the registered practitioner.

  • Support the registered practitioner and wider clinical team during clinical procedures and emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, falls, acute deterioration).

  • Assistwith patient transfers/escorts within scope of practice, including transfers to other wards or departments (e.g., CT scan).

  • Assist with Care After Death, respecting all cultural and religious requirements.

  • Maintain individual hygiene needs including washing, dressing, oral care,hairand nail care, and report any concerns.

  • Assistin the prevention of pressure ulcers and report any deterioration in skin integrity.

  • Support safe moving and handling, maximising mobility usingappropriate equipment(e.g., hoists, walking aids, rehabilitation chairs).

  • Encourage involvement of carers whereappropriate.

  • Work with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver rehabilitation plans and update patient diaries.

  • Apply minor dressings or appliances under supervision.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • Maths and English qualification - GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
  • Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience

Knowledge & Training

Essential

  • Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
  • Prepared to undergo further training
  • Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
  • An understanding of their role within the team

Experience

  • Able to assess patient's health, safety and wellbeing while undertaking personal care and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
