BAND 7 - 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

A permanent opportunity has arisen for a full time Specialty Manager to lead our Emergency & Other Specialities department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and co-ordinating activities ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day running of the department, financial and performance management, service improvement and line management of designated staff, maintaining patient care, and for the establishment of good communications and relationships between colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors.

You must be registered with the NMC or the HCPC, and have a recognised qualification in Theatre Practice or equivalent level of experience.It is essential that you hold a management qualification and/or evidence of further academic development.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure the delivery of a responsive, high quality, value for money service within the speciality area and in conjunction with other Speciality Managers in the clinical unit
  • Devise plans and collaborate with others to move towards the highest standards of patient care
  • In conjunction with the Matron, Theatres Deputy Matron and Theatre Manager, and in conjunction with other Speciality Managers, ensure that the service is continually reviewed and evaluated in order to support achievement of the Trust Corporate objectives and all relevant national targets
  • To be responsible for monitoring and co-ordinating activities ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day running of the unit/area
  • To actively manage financial and performance management, service improvement and line management of designated staff
  • Delegate tasks, ensuring that such tasks are within the competence, experience and training of that individual.
  • Ensure a high standard of record keeping on all staff is maintained at all times.
