Job summary

A vacancy has arisen in our acute stroke rehabilitation team for a senior physiotherapist/occupational therapist. The team provides a therapy service to our hyper acute and acute rehabilitation areas.

The stroke team are a highly motivated team and provide an excellent quality therapy service working collaboratively with the MDT team and contributing to the ongoing development of the service. You will have responsibility for the supervision and training of rotational band 5 staff, therapy assistants and students.

You must have some experience of working in the stroke rehabilitation. Evidence of staff supervision is desirable but not essential.

The post is part of an integrated seven day working service therefore a willingness to work in this way is essential.

This is a fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

This is a senior occupational therapist post requiring significant post graduate experience.

The post holder will be responsible for rapid response, advanced assessment & treatment of complex and /or chronic presentations and will provide highly specialist advice for patients within the hospital and community setting and teaching and training to therapy colleagues working in other clinical areas, and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will be responsible for supervision and training of other therapy staff including rotational band 5 staff, Therapy assistants and students.

The post holder will also undertake a co-ordinating role in the delivery of the therapy service within their specific clinical area on a day-to-day basis and this will include the provision of a 7-day therapy service in our clinical specialities
