CORBETT HOSPITAL DAY SURGERY UNIT
THEATRE PRACTITIONER - BAND 5
HOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK - PERMANENT
An opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Practitioner to join the team at Corbett Day Surgery Unit (Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust).
The post holder will join a team of friendly trained nurses and CSW's to care for patients undergoing surgical procedures within our busy day surgery unit.
Previous theatre experience would be desirable, however a full training and competence package would be given to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate would be required to work across site at Russells Hall Hospital in our sister department Minor Procedure Rooms and when required Main and DSU theatres.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver a high standard of patient care, ensuring that procedures and treatments are carried out in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Organise day-to-day work of any area given to control by the Specialty Manager/Team Leader, as applicable to level of competence and skill.
- Liaise with medical staff, departments and senior nursing staff as appropriate to maintain the smooth running of services.
- Ensure that all appropriate staff are kept informed of any changes to procedures, lists etc.
- Supervise work of learners and junior staff allocated to area commensurate with their level of competency and skill.
- Ensure adequate information is given to patients, relatives, ward nurses and all necessary documentation completed.
- Ensure that drugs are checked and controlled according to the regulations governing these and hospital policy.
- Assist with the maintenance of stock levels of medical and surgical stores within the area and maintaining supplies of linen and HSDU items.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the department and take measures to prevent cross infection, liaising/reporting to the Specialty Manager/Team Leader or Infection Control Link Person as appropriate.
