Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a full-time band 8a qualified nurse hysteroscopist with colposcopy accrediation within the Gynaecology department at Russells Hall Hospital. This post is initially a 12 month fixed term contract. Flexibility and dedication is required, and full support will be given.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for independently assessing, investigating and diagnosing women referred to the ambulatory hysteroscopy clinics in accordance with national, regional and local protocols.

To carry out diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient hysteroscopy procedures as an autonomous practitioner within own competence, skill and qualifications

The Nurse Hysteroscopist will have key working relationships will all members of the nursing, medical, multidisciplinary and department management teams.

The post holder will also assist in managing outpatient hysteroscopy clinics to ensure patients are investigated in keeping with cancer waiting time targets.

Qualifications and Education

Essential

  • First Level Registered Nurse with NMC
  • Nursing degree
  • NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
  • PG Certificate in Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management
  • BSCCP accredited Colposcopist

Desirable

  • Health Assessment / Physical Examination module
  • Educated to or working towards master's level qualifications
  • Non-medical prescriber (V300 qualification)
  • Diagnostic ultrasound qualification in gynaecology
  • Counselling module

Knowledge and Training

Essential

  • Experience as an accredited Colposcopist.
  • Experience and advanced clinical knowledge within Gynaecology

Desirable

  • Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing, or commitment to complete
  • Evidence of professional development

  • Proven ability to communicate complex clinical information
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
  • Evidence of having undertaken relevant further study or training as required for the post
