Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an RN to join our Haematology CNS team. The position would be as a band 6 for 37.5 hours (working 5 days a week, 8-4 as core hours).
The successful nurse would be joining a well-established, experienced team who would provide support and training. The nurse would be expected to work alongside the band 7 Stem cell transplantation CNS and with training and supervision perform apheresis and stem cell return. The nurse would also be responsible for carrying 2 consultant caseloads which includes supporting patients and their families through initial diagnosis, treatment and beyond as needed. The postholder would work alongside the CNS team providing support to inpatients as needed and review patients when attending C4 daycase, SDEC and A2 medical daycase as appropriate. The support CNS would also be expected to provide advice, support and teaching to nurses on C4 ward, Daycase, SDEC and A2 medical Daycase.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivering a high standard of specialist nursing care within the specialist service and will support the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Autologous Stem Cell transplantation and Apheresis services. Ensuring high standards of nursing care are provided to all patients receiving care in this Haematological specialty. The post holder will be ward or department based.
The post holder will support the CNS in providing professional advice to members of the multidisciplinary teams; assist in developing the skills and knowledge of staff to deliver high quality care and achieve the performance targets for the specialty.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of a team caring for patients with Haematological disorders.
