Job summary
There is an opportunity at Dudley Group Hospitals for two Consultant Sonographers to lead the Ultrasound Service, 1x non-obstetric and 1x obstetric and gynae.
The post holder will develop the strategic vision in the specialist field of ultrasound leading on development and innovation in new clinical practices and technologies, advanced research and service development.
The post holder will manage the Ultrasound Service at Russell's Hall Hospital and across the Community Diagnostic Centres working with NHS England and external training providers to provide expert input into the Trust's quality strategy, including influencing and delivering the clinical governance agenda within the specialist field of clinical practice.
The post holder must be qualified to MSc level and undertake advanced clinical practice either interventional ultrasound or consultant led clinics. Extensive experience of managing a specialist team is essential along with proven leadership skills. The role will include facilitating training for Consultants, Radiology/Surgical Registrars, other clinicians and undergraduate and post graduate students.
Main duties of the job
There will be a requirement to undertake a high level of clinical research to ensure best practice and where necessary conduct a programme of clinical audit in the development of new practice with the view to implement new diagnostic pathways that will benefit patients and their treatment.
