Job summary

Responsible for the development and implementation of advanced Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions. Design and maintain the structure of self-service informatics portals in the organisation.

Responsible for delivering analytics content to support clinical and non-clinical teams. Build relationships with clinical, operational and analytical staff in order to understand and meet their technical requirements.

Provide Cover support for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer and the Data Warehouse Manager.

Main duties of the job

To develop systems which communicate complex statistical and analytical information for mandated and non-mandated performance measures to all levels of the organisation.

To develop systems to support understanding of epidemiological information such as incidence and distribution of factors relating to conditions and other factors relating to health.

Responsible for the safe use of IT equipment other than what is used personally.

To operate in the role with significant freedom to act, make decisions and recommendations to others within the scope of the role and the service and organisational policies.

Train peers, juniors and colleagues within the area of expertise.

Show specialist knowledge of building Business Intelligence solutions used for statistics/epidemiology/information analysis and the use of information across the NHS.

Gather requirements for building systems to support statistical/ analytical work programmes and makes adjustments to meet customer requirements.

Implements departmental policies within own work area, proposes changes to working practices as a result of new guidelines or legislation, / proposes changes to and redesigns statistical, information and local managerial policies, concepts and procedures which have an impact on other areas, e.g. statistical lead on cross-professional working groups advising on new data collection for implementation at national level; lead analyst for relevant performance reports.

Co-ordinates work of junior staff; professionally supervises students; trains other staff / manages staff including appraisals and recruitment (as panel member); delivery of specialist training programmes when covering for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer or the Data Warehouse Architect .

Responsible for introducing, adapting and improving systems to input, store and

disseminate information used in statistical analysis; responsible for one or more information systems for collection of performance/statistical/epidemiological information

There may also be a requirement to undertake other similar duties as part of this post in order to provide a quality service. These will be consistent with the level of responsibilities outlined above.
