Own Bed Instead is community rapid response admission avoidance team that has successfully expanded. We are now able to offer this exciting rotational post whereby the successful candidate will be able to gain experience through rotations across community therapy teams in Dudley.
In OBI we are seeking a passionate occupational therapist who shares in our vision of the 'home first' approach. You will have the opportunity to work in a large MDT to deliver a 2-hour response as part of the National Urgent Care Response targets. Our aim is to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and prevent avoidable Emergency Department attendances by an integrated multidisciplinary approach stabilising patients within the place they call home.
The OBI team is a therapy service providing assessment and treatment to complex patients. The role will be predominantly crisis response work within a patient's own home, however there will be some opportunity for short term rehab where required.
Main duties of the job
This is a qualified post and provides an opportunity for the Therapist to consolidate core skills and competencies.
The key function of this role is mainly clinical and concentrates on the assessment of patients referred to the service.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner and will have the support of a senior therapist, and be part of the planning and implementation of therapy intervention in partnership with patients under their care.
These posts are rotational to ensure a rounded learning opportunity.
Intermediate care will provide the post holder with the opportunity to deliver high standard of rehabilitation through occupational therapy interventions to patients in intermediate care stepdown units in various bed-based units across Dudley Borough. The post holder will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with a wide range of clinical needs and conditions, including orthopaedic, neurological, medical and surgical, as well as frail elderly co-morbidities. The post holder is required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving high standards of therapy within Dudley group NHS Foundation Trust.
