Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust within the Finance Team.

The Dudley Group is looking for a committed individual who would like to kick-start a career in Accounts and Finance. During your time with us as an apprentice, you will be required to complete the initial levels of the Association of Accountancy Technicians (AAT) qualification.

As a member of the Finance Team, you will assist in the operational work of the Management Accounts Function.

  • To gain knowledge and experience of the functions within a management accounts department and the overall finance team.
  • To be responsible for supporting a range of finance administration and business functions.
  • Develop key experience in a finance function that supports external accountancy courses and qualifications.

Apprenticeship Programme details:

  • Apprenticeship standard - Accounts or Finance Assistant, Level 2.
  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
  • Training provider is to be confirmed.
  • The programme will be on a fixed term contract for 18 months.
  • Salary will be paid at National Apprentice wage, £5.28 per hour with a yearly salary of £10324.31 for the first 12 months. For the final 6 months, this will change to minimum wage for age.

If you have already gained your Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship standard or AAT Level 2 qualification, we would still welcome your application as Level 3 study can be considered.

Main duties of the job

This job description describes the role that an apprentice will be working towards during the training period. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to acquire all the skills necessary to undertake the duties as described below.

Supervision and support (direct and indirect) will be provided or available during all tasks, with progression being dependent on the completion of set objectives throughout the apprenticeship period.

This will enable the apprentice to work within specific teams to gain confidence, experience and build a portfolio of evidence for apprenticeship accreditation.

As a member of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust team, you will assist in the day-to-day operational work of the team in which you are placed. This will involve liaising with members of staff across the team, locality and organisation, external organisations as required and members of the public.

To gain knowledge of the functions within your immediate team and the wider Trust.

To be responsible for supporting a range of administration functions.
