The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is designed to enable early detection of lung cancer, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. With approval from the National Screening Committee, the programme is set to be implemented nationwide by 2028/29.
This role will support the delivery of lung health checks as part of a community-based program, with a focus on engaging underserved populations, raising awareness and prompting early detection of lung cancer, including other lung conditions. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist knowledge and care to the patient and their carer. They will support the Lung Cancer Screening Nurse Assessor with delivery of the programme They will support colleagues in the effective management of patients in their specialist area who require a high level of judgement, discretion and decision making within an inpatient or outpatient setting. They will provide education and training to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide skilled, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care in a hospital or community setting.
They will take on clinical leadership responsibilities, acting as a role model and mentor to junior staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in managing complex patient cases, contributing to service improvements, and ensuring adherence to NHS guidelines and standards.

We are currently building a small and mighty team to roll out the new lung cancer screening programme. We will be based at the North Kent Community Diagnostic Centre. Not only will you be delivering care to the participants, you will have the opportunity to shape and develop the service as part of the team.
