Job summary
We are delighted to invite applications for the post of Consultant Microbiologist to join Darent Valley Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a team that values clinical excellence, innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration. You will play a key role in delivering and developing microbiology services, supporting patient care, infection prevention and control, and antimicrobial stewardship across acute and community settings.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of services and will share in the medical contribution to management. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are expected to observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the professions on clinical matters
The appointee will assist in the organisation and provision of a microbiological, diagnostic, clinical, IPC and advisory service to all healthcare services, including GP related services across the health economy. Opportunities exist to improve patient care by developing MDTs with Vascular and Diabetic teams.

Essential
- Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) or equivalent
- CCT or within 6 months of AAC date
- On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice
Experience

- Evidence of completing an approved period of training in Infectious Diseases/Medical Microbiology & Virology
Desirable
- Trained Educational supervisor
- Experience in the clinical aspects of the principles of infection prevention and control
