Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualified healthcare professional with a recognised degree or equivalent qualification (AHP or Registered Nurse)

As a qualified therapist/nurse you will have substantial experience within health or social care settings with proven knowledge with complex cases.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration to apply for this post. The delivery of moving and handling training at Darent Valley is in the process of change and you will have the opportunity to influence and develop the service and your scope of practise alongside the Band 7 Moving and handling Co-ordinator.

This is a band 6 post but there could be an opportunity to appoint at band 5 in line with the person specification and if further training is required. This would then be undertaken over a 12 month period to ensure full compliance of the skills required to undertake the role.

This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship. All applicants are expected to have valid right to work document to work in the UK when applying for this position.

Main duties of the job

The Moving and Handling Trainer will support the Trust in delivering safe, compliant, and evidence-based moving and handling practice.

The post holder will provide high-quality training to clinical and non-clinical staff, support the implementation of safe systems of work, and contribute to reducing moving and handling-related incidents.

They will act as a specialist resource on safe patient handling, equipment use and ergonomic risk assessment.

Provide practical skills training, including use of equipment such as hoists, slings, slide sheets, lateral transfer devices, and specialist aids.

Adapt training to different staff groups, including clinical teams and administrative staff.

Maintain accurate training records and contribute to compliance reporting.

Advisory and Clinical Support: include level of responsibility for:

Act as a point of contact for moving and handling queries from clinical areas.

Support local teams with patient-specific moving and handling plans, particularly for complex cases.

Support MH co-ordinator with workplace assessments to identify risks and recommend safe working practices.

Provide guidance on appropriate equipment selection and safe use.

Regular visits to wards and departments to liaise with staff in order to promote the role of Moving and Handling.

Ensure that areas are using safe practice/ appropriate equipment that supports both staff and service user needs.

Essential

  • Degree or diploma level clinical or healthcare qualification
  • Relevant clinical or healthcare background (e.g., Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, HCA with specialist experience).

  • Evidence of CPD
