Dartford and Gravesham NHs Trust has partnered with The Kent and Medway cancer alliance to deliver a brand new screening service to the people of North Kent.
The Lung screening programme is a national initiative to increase lung cancer diagnosis rates and improve outcomes for patients in the UK. The programme director is a key member of the team who will be responsible for the oversight, planning and implementation of this new service at DGT.
The role is a 2 year fixed term post.
Main duties of the job
The Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance is one of the phase 3 pilot sites for the national programme for LCSP. This programme will offer a lung health check and a subsequent low-dose CT scan if clinically indicated to eligible patients. The aim is to diagnose lung cancer at an early stage, improving treatment outcomes for patients. The LCSP programme will be offered to current and former smokers, aged between 55 and 74. In the Dartford Gravesham and Swanley area.
The programme is multi-disciplinary; the Division leading on the programme for the Trust is Women's Children Radiology and Outpatient services (WCRO). Radiology is the lead service working closely with respiratory, cancer and primary care services. The programme oversight is by the LCSP Programme Delivery Group, the COO is the Executive Sponsor for the programme.
As Programme Manager, you will work as part of a newly developed LCSP team and be responsible for the line management of the team of administrators. The project will focus largely on the planning and development of all the elements of the programme, establishing governance and infrastructure and securing active involvement of stakeholders in its delivery. Community engagement is also a key part of this role.
