Community Midwife

The closing date is 17 June 2025

Job summary

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE WILL NOT BE SPONSORED. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK independently, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

As a forward thinking and innovative maternity unit being led by a supportive management team, we can offer exciting and excellent opportunities for your midwifery career development.

We are a growing organisation which can provide the successful candidate the opportunity to participate in exciting new developments. We are affiliated to the University of Greenwich where midwives can undertake courses at Level 6 and 7. The Maternity services run an excellent in-house training programme, including an advanced fetal monitoring workshop and intensive emergency skills drills workshop, soon to include community settings.

Our Maternity Unit currently supports 5,000 births a year serving women living in the areas of Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Bexley divided amongst 6 Community Midwifery teams. We are looking for midwives who have successfully completed a preceptorship programme or have experience at band 6. Experience of community midwifery would be beneficial but not necessary as a full introduction to community midwifery will be provided by the trust and supported by the Community Matron, Team Leaders and the Practice development team.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking experienced Band 6 midwives to join our community midwifery teams.

We have opportunities for both traditional community midwives and for midwives who would like to support the provision of antenatal care for women who live outside of our formal catchment area for care but wish to give birth at Dartford and Gravesham Trust.

Applicants for the traditional community midwifery posts should be competent and confident at facilitating and supporting normality in childbirth as some of these roles support our 24/7 homebirth service. If you are highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced and woman-centred, we would welcome your application.
