Job summary
The post holder will provide care, support and information to women and their families pertaining to the Antenatal and Newborn Screening service. They will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will ensure the provision and continuing effectiveness of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening service for the Trust, in line with the National Screening Committee recommendations.
They will ensure national Antenatal and Newborn Screening targets are achieved by ongoing audit and be responsible for the development of a sensitive systematic approach to the management and counselling of women receiving screening and high risk results, or the diagnosis of an abnormality of the baby.

- oRegistered Midwife with extensive midwifery experience
- oRelevant Degree or equivalent.
- oAssessor/mentorship course or equivalent
- oEvidence of professional development.
Desirable
- oHas or working towards a post graduate degree / masters.
- oCounselling qualification
- oKnowledge of genetics.
Knowledge and Skills

- oSpecialist knowledge of procedures and practices within the screening agenda underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.
- oCounselling skills.
- oKnowledge of National Antenatal and Newborn Screening programme.
