Job Summary
This post is in addition to 0.6 WTE Consultant
This is a replacement post, replacing a retiring consultant. The team currently consists of 2.0 WTE substantive Consultants. The appointee will not be on the on call rota for general medicine.
Breakdown of PAs: Clinics (3 PA's), Admin (1 PA), IP Diabetes (1 PA), 2 Ward Rounds (2.50 PA's), SPA (1.5 PA's) On-call: Additional 1 PA to cover GIM on-call rota at 1 in 16, with clinical commitment cancelled or covered by another colleagues when doing PTWR's.

There is an excellent Postgraduate Centre at Darent Valley Hospital. This provides lecture and tutorial rooms and a dining room. Numerous meetings for Hospital Doctors and General Practitioners are held at the centre. There are regular educational sessions and meetings covering Case Presentation, Journal club, Histopathology joint meetings, General, Urological and Vascular X-ray meetings and Mammography Meetings.

A formal Job Plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, within three months after the commencement date of the appointee. This will be signed by the Clinical Director and will be effective from the commencement date of the appointment. The Job Plan for the first three months will be agreed between you and the Directorate. The Job Plan will then be reviewed annually, following the Appraisal Meeting. The Job Plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultants duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year.

- oFull GMC Registration
- oMBBS or equivalent
- oHolds CCT or equivalent or will obtain within 6 months of interview date in Palliative Care and/or general internal medicine.
Desirable
- Other degrees, e.g. BSc MSc, MD, PhD..
