Job summary
There is a fantastic opportunity for a post holder to Lead in the implementation and training for a new National Early Warning System for paediatric patients.
NHS England (NHSE) is leading on the roll out of a new early warning system for doctors and nurses treating children to quickly identify deterioration, escalate care, and act on parental concerns.
While many hospitals already have similar systems in place, this change will provide a single, national standardised process for patients, families, and staff to have a clear way of ensuring issues are detected and escalated quickly.
Main duties of the job
1.1 Implement the PEWS project within the inpatient paediatric areas.
1.2 Contribute to the evaluation, monitoring and development of standards of clinical practice in relation to national PEWS.
1.3 Assist the ward leaders in promoting clinical expertise within the nursing teams.
1.4 Lead on training and educational initiatives to support the de-implementation of existing systems and rollout of the national PEWS.
1.5 Attend relevant committees / groups in the absence of the PDN or Matron in order to influence and progress development of professional practice.
1.6 In conjunction with the other work stream leads, eLearning Training Lead, subject matter experts and external trainers as necessary, jointly design and develop the training material for all users of the new systems including doctors, nurses.
