Job summary

Our Emergency Medicine department staff pride themselves on providing a high quality "shop floor" clinical presence, together with high standards of education, training, research and audit. The post holder will work in close co-operation with nursing, managerial, and medical colleagues to provide high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. This post will be to cover all areas of Urgent and Emergency Care.

Main duties of the job

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements: -

  • To see patients attending the Emergency Department, making primary diagnosis and initiating emergency treatment. This will be at middle-grade level within the department.
  • To participate in a 24-hour full shift rota
  • To provide a first-class clinical service to our patients
  • To provide sufficient information to colleagues during handover to ensure consistency of care and clinical safety
  • To supervise and teach junior clinical staff including carrying out workplace-based assessments (WPBAs)
  • To develop professionally and take part in all services development
  • To engage in personal development and appraisal process - required to achieve revalidation with GMC.
