Speech and Language Therapy Administration Assistant

Job summary

We are delighted to advertise this part-time Band 3 Administration post based within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy service at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford (0.4wte/15hours split over 2 or 3 days - weekends not required). The salary includes a cost of living supplement (5%).

The post will provide administration to the Macmillan SLT service, which supports inpatients & outpatients with cancer experiencing communication and swallowing disorders. The successful candidate will be highly proficient and have experience in the use of key computer packages.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

Create, maintain and update documents and spreadsheets under guidance from the therapists

Deal with appointment scheduling and patient-related correspondence/emails/telephone calls

Disseminate information involving sensitive, confidential & potentially emotive patient information under information governance guidelines

Maintain and order equipment to ensure stock levels

Prioritise work according to deadlines

Provide basic admin cover when the SLT Team Admin Lead is absent

For all tasks, working in a professional and timely manner, and having an eye for detail are essential, as is strong teamworking.

It is also desirable to have prior knowledge and experience of working in a healthcare setting.

The chosen candidate will receive support from the well-established Macmillan SLT Team as well as the Departmental Admin Lead. They will be joining an energetic, friendly, flexible and innovative department.

Essential

  • GCSEs/O Levels (inc English Language and Maths)

Desirable

  • RSA Stage 2 Office Skills or other formal qualification in admin and clerical duties

Experience

  • At least 1 year's admin/secretarial experience
