Job summary

Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust (DGT) has an new exciting opportunity to join their Safeguarding hub as part of the adult safeguarding team . We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated person to support the existing safeguarding team. They will need to be able to deputise in the absence of the safeguarding lead and promote the Mental Capacity Act agenda, acting as a subject expert in this field. They would be able to provide expert advice for staff to ensure that the patients are safeguarded and ensure the Mental Capacity Act is effectively followed for those who lack capacity to consent to confinement or arrangements which deprive them of their liberty whilst in hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a registered professional with highly developed experience and knowledge of the safeguarding process and experience in safeguarding investigations and the Mental Capacity Act.(MCA)

They will lead on all aspects of MCA ensuring that the Trust is up to date with current legislation. They will also be required to deputise for the Safeguarding Adults Lead when necessary.

The role of Safeguarding Adults and Mental Capacity Act lead will cover all Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust sites, working closely with the other members of the safeguarding team, Learning Disability Nurse and community partners.

  • Professional qualification/Registered Nurse Level 1
  • First degree in Nursing or health related subject or equivalent.
