Job summary

Job Summary

Working without supervision, the post holder will be responsible for booking in and discharging patients on the hospital and departmental patient management system.

The post holder will provide effective and efficient clerical support to the Cardiac team as required and will work consistently to provide high quality customer service.

Main duties of the job

Welcome patients in a polite and courteous manner, checking and confirming their personal details

Responsible for all aspects of clinic administration.

Deal with all telephone enquiries

Ensure all case notes and referral forms are available and prepared, prior to the commencement of the clinic

Assist staff/patients/careers or relatives with enquires

Ensure, post consultation that patients are booked out, follow-up appointments made and arrangements for transport or any investigations are made.

Reconcile the clinic at the end of the session, taking appropriate action on patients who did not attend (DNA`s) or cancelled their appointments.

Arrange appointments for the diagnostic tests

Essential

  • English Language GSCE (or equivalent) and general education to GCSE level
  • RSA3/ NVQ3 equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous admin and clerical experience
  • Experience of using all Microsoft office packages e.g. power point, excel etc

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good word processing and computer skills
  • Good presentation of work/typing
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Accurate spelling
