Job summary
For many people Outpatients is their first and only experience of using hospital services and the quality of care they receive from us leaves a lasting impression on them.
We can offer you experience in a wide range of clinics, caring for a variety of people including children. We also require this applicant be able to undertake phlebotomy to help with the service delivery within the department. The variety of work will require you to be able to deliver excellent interpersonal skills that are essential to dealing with patients and carers in a sensitive and professional manner.
Do you have at least 12 months Nursing Assistant experience within an acute NHS Hospital setting, within the last 3 years? We are looking for people with excellent communication and inter-personal skills as well as a kind and caring nature. Previous outpatient experience, Phlebotomy course and NVQ in Care would be an advantage.
You should be able to work flexible days/hours, as required to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Outpatient nursing and Phlebotomy team, caring for patients with direct or indirect supervision, whilst maintaining a stable and safe clinical environment.
Assists in the running of the outpatient and phlebotomy clinics and /or organising a designated clinic and working with indirect supervision from a Registered Nurse Bleep holder for advice or support.
To work across Outpatient Clinics on all Trust sites, as required by the service.

Clinical responsibilities:Assists in the planned care of the patient under the supervision of aRegistered Nurse.Organises a designated clinic, when required; ensuring patients receive appropriate care, with access to a Bleep Holder for advice or support.Works when allocated within the Phlebotomy area, taking blood samples from clinics and local General Practitioners, as requiredResponsible for taking blood ensuring that patients identity is confirmed, the correct samples are taken and the sample labelled accuratelyIs aware of the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the patient and any changes in condition.Reports to the qualified nurse or Bleep Holder, on observations made of the patient and any changes in condition.Acts as a chaperone at the request of patients and staff and accompanies them within the clinic or department / hospital as appropriate.Maintains the patients safety during invasive procedures.Keeps accurate record of patient care according to Trust PolicyActs as the patients advocate during consultations, investigationsand/or treatment.Reports any accidents/incidents to the nurse in charge.Is aware of the location of resuscitation/emergency equipment andprocedures.Complies with the principles for the maintenance of hygiene and thecontrol of infection.Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and other staff, as required by the Health and Safety at Work Act.Undertakes other duties as directed, such as cleaning, storing and checking of equipment and the tidying of clinical and storage areas.Works across outpatients clinics on all Trust sites as required to deliver the service.2.
