Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic, patient focused, hard working individual who can join our Radiology team as a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA).

With a view to expanding our CT , US and mammography services , will require flexibility to work 8-8 cross site to increase capacity and offer greater access for the patients we serve. Radiology are looking for full or part-time staff. Flexible hours are expected as well as working weekends as part of a rota.

Main duties of the job

The candidate must be flexible, dynamic, patient focused and able to work as part of a team. interprofessional communication skills is essential working alongside Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and other healthcare workers.

This post is a cross site position based at Queen Marys Hospital Sidcup, with expectation to work at other sites of Darent Valley Hospital and Erith Hospital, as part of Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust(DGT) . DGT is a progressive and forward thinking Trust serving a growing local population of 600,000, across the Bexley and Dartford boroughs.

At DGT, we have an extensive range of modalities including DR, CT, MRI, ultrasound, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, bone densitometry, interventional and cardiac angiography and all aspects of general and fluoroscopic radiography.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Essential

  • Broad general education
  • Previous NHS experience and training

Desirable

  • GCSEs
  • Health care related NVQ

KNOWLEDGE

  • Able to work effectively in an Imaging department
  • Good communication skills with patients, colleagues and other Trust workers
  • Knowledge of general radiological procedures
  • Working knowledge of radiation protection issues, including the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations and the local rules
  • Ability to work safely, avoiding the hazards that may be encountered in Radiology
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Perform IV cannulation

Desirable

  • PC skills
  • Awareness of NHS agenda

EXPERIENCE

  • Evidence of ability to work within a team
  • Evidence of ability to communicate with the general public
