Paediatric Epilepsy / Neurology Nurse Specialist
Band 7 Full Time/ Part time : 37.5 hours/week
We are seeking an innovative Registered Children's Nurse to join our developing Paediatric Epilepsy Neurology Service (PENS) as a Paediatric Epilepsy/Neurology Nurse Specialist. The role will manage and facilitate care for children with a diagnosis of Epilepsy and that are under the care of our Consultant Paediatrician with Neurology interest.
Main duties of the job
The Trust has invested, with the support of NHS England Vanguard Project and the Roald Dahl Marvellous Childrens Charity . Developing relationships with other organisations to ensure that our patients are well supported throughout their journey with us. There will therefore be an opportunity to collaborate with the tertiary Paediatric Neurology teams at the Evelina's Children's Hospital as well as working alongside colleagues from the charity . You will be expected to maintain this collaborative approach at the nursing level and your professional development planning will ensure that you can maintain adequate professional liaison and educational exchange with these experienced teams.
You must be dedicated and passionate in your role and demonstrate excellent leadership and team working abilities. There is no on-call service after-hours or at the weekend.

Your role will be based in the paediatric outpatient department, and work within inpatient wards and community setting to provide a high quality care and management of children with Epilepsy and their families. The successful applicant will run independent nurse led clinics and participate in regular supervision with Consultant colleagues to offer the highest level of care to the patient caseload. The role will provide highly specialised support and advice via different means of technology. You will be expected to provide advice and support in relation to management and symptom control to patients with epilepsy and related conditions and will be expected to provide educational support to staff within the Trust.

- Teaching/Mentorship qualification
- Completed or willing to undertake a qualification in Epilepsy
- Evidence of continuing post registration professional development
Desirable
- Master's degree
- Non-medical prescribing course
- PET 1 Epilepsy Course
Knowledge
Essential
- Demonstrate up to date knowledge, skills and expertise in the speciality of Epilepsy/Neurology including national policies and guidelines
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and demonstrates a commitment to Multidisciplinary working.
- Ability to plan and run nurse led clinics
- Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
- Understanding of the holistic needs of children and families with epilepsy/neurology
- Able to deliver teaching sessions and presentations
