We have created a new exciting role for an Enhanced Care Health Care Assistant working alongside our dedicated lead Mental Health Nurse. This is an incredible opportunity within our diverse and welcoming NHS Trust, where you will learn to support the physical and psychological wellbeing of our patients who require additional care.
Main duties of the job
The enhanced care team offer additional support across all the wards and departments for patients who may require additional support due to the disease process, unfamiliar surroundings, medication, or their mental health or challenging behaviour needs. Enhanced care is an integral part of a therapeutic plan and ensures the safe and sensitive monitoring of a patients physical and psychological wellbeing, whilst building therapeutic relationships. Enhanced care could be supporting 'cohorted' or patients who require 1-1 support.
Job Summary
To work primarily as a member of the Enhanced Care Team under the supervision and guidance of the Registered Nurse and Clinical Lead Nurse for Mental Health, providing support to all areas of the Trust.
To build therapeutic and meaningful relationships with patients.
To engage in therapeutic activities with patients to support their recovery of physical and mental health needs.
To support the Registered Nursing staff in the initial assessment and ongoing care of patients, under supervision.
To support the Registered Nursing staff in delivering individualised, safe and quality care to patients.
To support the Registered Nursing staff in maintaining a safe clinical environment.
To demonstrate own duties to new starters, bank/agency staff and to provide teaching and clinical supervision to less experienced staff.
To communicate effectively with all members of the public and the multi-disciplinary team at all times.
