NHS pharmacist development opportunity for UK trained pharmacist
Would you like to expand your clinical knowledge and gain invaluable experience with working with our specialist pharmacist? We have specialist pharmacist trained to run & prescribe in diabetes & lipid medicine and in cancer clinics. You too will have the opportunity to develop as a specialist prescriber.
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust Pharmacy Department has a programme that will support your development from an entry level to a senior specialist pharmacist in 3 years.
As part of your training programme you will provide clinical pharmacy services to the wards, working closely with our specialist pharmacist, doctors and nurses.
Our junior pharmacist training programme includes rotations in surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology, diabetes, respiratory, gastroenterology, cancer, renal, stroke, frailty, paediatrics and Medicines information.
Our band 6 pharmacist starting salary £37,162 to £44,629 depending on experience. Band 7 Senior Pharmacist and Specialist roles are also available also dependent on experience and speciality. For further discussion. A relocation package is available for Pharmacists relocatingto Dartford.
Open to current trainee pharmacists due to qualify in the next four months.
Main duties of the job
If you are ready to develop your knowledge in hospital pharmacy then we can support you. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team on matters relating to the safe, economic, effective and evidence based use of medications. With support from our Medicines Management Technicians you will ensure that patients and carers understand how to take their medicines on discharge including counselling and liaising with primary care colleagues to ensure continuity of care. Rotations include training in the Medicines Information service, developing skills in handling enquiries on a range of topics from a variety of enquirers. Whilst on the ward Pharmacists are expected to implement the Trust Medicines Formulary and guide medical staff on adherence to Trust guidelines. All staff are expected to support and promote adherence to antimicrobial guidelines and safe and appropriate prescribing within the trust.
