Trust Grade CT1/2 in General Surgery
Fixed term- 12 months
Full time- 40 Hours per week
The Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is seeking to appoint Trust Grade CT1/2 in General Surgery to be based at the Darent Valley Hospital. This post is available as soon as possible for 12 months; further extensions may be agreed mutually.
You will need to have full GMC Registration with a licence to practice to be considered for this role and have completed foundation training or have equivalent experience. Computer literacy and a good standard of written and spoken English are both essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be able to fully participate in the training programme directed by the Director of Medical Education, which will include formal teaching sessions, directed and self-directed personal learning, structured appraisals and assessments.

Firms 1 and 2 both carry out a wide range of general surgery.
The specific interests of Firm 1 include vascular surgery, thyroid, paediatric and breast. A full range of vascular surgery is offered locally, including carotid surgery, femoro-distal bypass and infra-renal aortic surgery. Facilities are available for intra-operative angioplasty. There is an excellent Radiology Department with an interest in developing vascular interventional radiology. We have a colour duplex scanner, digital subtraction angiography, and spiral CT
The specific interests of teams include gastrointestinal surgery, emergency and colo-rectal disease. Mr. Bhardwaj, Mr. Hanek, Mr. Adamek and Mr. Nastro have special interest in laparoscopic colo-rectal surgery. On the top of this Mr Adamek and Mr Bhardwaj provide pelvic floor investigations and the Trust is participating in National Bowel Screening program both for colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy.
We have Paediatric surgery once per month at DVH under the GSTT consultant and again under SLA arrangement. There is a lot of experience available in Paediatric elective day case surgery and colo-rectal disease
