Job summary

As part of an expansion to our Radiology Services we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to come and join our dynamic Radiology Team at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.

We are looking for full time Band 7 Senior Radiographers, with proven NHS in cross sectional imaging experience and post grad specialism CT

The cross sectional team is expanding with expansion into 7 day working and the development of the Trusts Community Diagnostic Centre

The Trusts primary Radiology Department is located at Darent Valley Hospital servicing the populations of Gravesham, Swanley, Dartford and Bexley.

CT services are located at Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Marys Hospital Sidcup with future expansion of services at Livingstone Hospital (CDC)

Main duties of the job

DGT are undertaking changes to its Radiology department with the expansion of MRI services with the building of a 2nd MRI scanner, 4 CT scanners across 2 sites and the development of a Community diagnostic centre to further expand diagnostic capacity.

The successful candidates will be based at Darent Valley Hospital Radiology department providing senior expertise and experience to the existing managing team, with an opportunity for CT/General staff to rotate through the Radiology Department at Queen Marys Sidcup.

Working days and or shift patterns will be agreed by the line manager to meet the needs of the service and will based on a 7 day service.

Job responsibilities

1. Clinical responsibilities:

1.1 To take a lead role in the running of CT1.2 To take an advanced/lead role in the Radiology department1.3 The post holder will be expected to cover for the modality /service lead as required.1.4 To carry out duties within a specialised environment as required1.5 Support the modality lead in capacity management and utilisation of resources within the service so that workload is organised in an efficient and effective manner to ensure local and national targets (2WW and 6 week) are achieved.1.6 To ensure that all patients are treated with consideration and care that is appropriate to their condition, using clinical judgment as to the optimum technique, selection of equipment and other parameters1.7 Liaise with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the Radiology services1.8 To comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Ionising Radiations1.9 Regulations 1999, the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 and the departmental protocols for the implementation of IR(ME)R1.91 To abide by the local rules for radiation protection and MRI safety1.92 To take part in the provision of an out-of-hours service1.93 To take part in the departments Quality Assurance programme, including regular testing of the Radiology equipment1.94 To be aware of the principles of clinical governance and ensure that working practices conform to these principles1.95 Maintain professional standards at all times

2. Managerial responsibilities:

2.1 To deputise for the Superintendents/Leads as required, ensuring that available resources are used efficiently and effectively2.2 Participate in the development and implementation of protocols and procedures2.3 Take an active part in clinical audit2.4 Participate in all aspects of patient record keeping undertaken within the department, including entering data on the Radiology Information System2.5 Demonstrate a planned approach to managing time2.6 Consider other people and available resources2.7 Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations, Data Protection Act, Trust and Directorate policies are implemented2.8 Be aware of and take an active role in ensuring Radiology works toward meeting the targets and key objectives of the Trust2.9 Report all equipment faults or unsafe areas to the Clinical Superintendent of that area2.91 Undertake PDRs supporting the Trusts and departmental objectives

3. Professional responsibilities:

3.1 To observe Trust, departmental, College of Radiographers and Health Professions Council codes of conduct and standards of proficiency3.2 To maintain State registration as required by the HCPC3.3 To participate in mandatory training requirements
