Job summary

The SME will lead on Path IT projects to provide support to the team to ensure day-to-day operations of all IT Pathology systems. Ensuring that all system are managed to provide optimal support and function to the Trust.

The SME will play a pivotal role within the Pathology and IT teams to help deliver Path IT projects such as upgraded lab info system, upgraded lab test order system, upgrades to anticoag system and improving connectivity with systems in the community and across the pathology network.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for supporting the successful delivery of upgrades to existing systems and supporting the team on the day-to-day operation of IT Pathology systems, including software configuration, maintenance, testing, end-user support, training, data quality, information governance, security, business continuity, vendor management, and service-level monitoring. Act as a secondary line of support, providing guidance and advice to users and managing escalations. Develop and implement escalation processes, liaising with senior management, IT teams, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues. Manage routine and preventative maintenance, updates, bug fixes, and issue logs with vendors to ensure system functionality. Maintain proactive contact with vendor staff to address technical issues promptly. Support resolution of technical enquiries, ensuring problems are managed effectively and solutions communicated to improve user understanding. Provide IT support for systems and analyser interfaces to eliminate single points of failure within the team. Participate in the on-call rota to ensure 24/7 Pathology IT support cover.
