Job summary
This post is central to delivering effective patient care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be primarily based in Winchester with some sessions in Basingstoke as required. The post will be involved in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of patients.
This post is for a senior clinical fellow in Oncology with dedicated time allocated to professional development. This is a full-time post but also suitable for those who wish to work part-time. It offers the opportunity to expand clinical skills and service development. It is also of exceptional benefit to those considering a career in oncology.
Main duties of the job
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the clinical supervisor. On occasions and as patterns of service provision evolve and change, further rescheduling of clinical sessions may take place following negotiation with your clinical supervisor.
The majority of the workload is prostate cancer and is main outpatient based. It allows the opportunity of working from home for part of the week. Clinical duties will include assessment, review, advice and treatment plans for new and follow-up patients for chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy and radiotherapy. Opportunity to participate in radiotherapy planning for those with clinical oncology training abroad or for those with FRCR part 1 or Full FRCR exams. Participation in urology MDT, support Clinical Nurse Specialists in the monitoring of biochemistry and radiological significant find reports, assist Chemotherapy Unit /pharmacy with prescription queries, advise to medical, surgical and acute oncology teams on management of inpatients. The post holder will be required to undertake the administrative duties associated with care of patients.
