Job summary
To coordinate the administration and data collection for trauma and orthopaedics as part of the trauma and orthopaedic team which aims to improve the quality of the service and the sharing of good practice.
The post holder should have experience of working in a hospital environment and possess a flexible proactive approach to supporting the development of information systems ensuring the work runs smoothly and efficiently.
Main duties of the job
- To support and promote trauma and orthopaedic audit, liaising closely with clinical staff to ensure that good quality data is available.
- To support with the day to day running of the trauma and orthopaedic team, including attending the daily trauma meeting.
- To collect, coordinate and enter accurate, reliable, and timely data and maintain the National Hip Fracture Database and other orthopaedic audit systems.
- To liaise with other cooperating centres and staff.
- To develop effective networks and channels of communication across multi-professional groups to facilitate trauma audit.
- Collation of raw data from internal and external sources on a regular basis and production into appropriate formats for example: spread sheets, reports.
- Preparation of presentations for the Directorate.
- Be familiar and competent with the use computer packages and hospital systems.
- To plan, prioritise, organise, and manage own workload adhering to standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for contacting patients as part of their 120 day follow up after a hip fracture and recording the data.
- Responsible for requesting, collection and tracking of patient notes to assist with audit.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with grade and experience.
